Vishesh Cup Cricket Tournament
In December 2014, Save The Children India initiated an inter-school cricket tournament for children with special needs.
The organization strives hard to inculcate the love for sports among its beneficiaries, especially the students of its Special Care Center (special school).
In order to provide a platform for discovery and honing of cricketing talent among differently-abled students across Mumbai, the Vishesh Cup Rotating Trophy was instituted. Special children feel thrilled to receive equal opportunities like children of normal ability and participate whole heartedly in Vishesh Cup Cricket Tournament.
The first season of the tournament was held for 2 days at the MIG Sports Club, Bandra (East). The event was graced by the presence of renowned ex-cricketer Mr. Karsan Ghavri.
On 28th and 29th January 2016, the tournament got bigger and better! The second season was hosted at the Air India Sports Club, Kalina and saw participants from 16 special schools across Mumbai. It received support of reputed celebrities and sportspersons such as Mr. Suniel Shetty, Ms. Athiya Shetty, Mr. Ayaz Memon, Mr. Vinod Kambli and Mr. Dhanraj Pillay along with extensive media coverage!
